青稞,又稱裸大麥,主要產于青藏高原,營養豐富,有機物含量高,其中β-葡聚糖含量最高,β-葡聚糖可以有效防治糖尿病、高血壓等多種疾病。作為特色粗糧,有平衡營養、代謝轉化、補充體內有益元素的功效(見表),深受廣大消費者喜愛。青稞富含多種營養成份,在高寒缺氧,沒有蔬菜的高原環境中,青稞是藏區唯一補充維生素與營養的來源。隨著西部大開發及人們飲食習慣的改變,青稞在國民經濟建設中越來越具有十分重要的意義。在青海,青稞播種面積占糧食作物播種面積的28%,是僅次于小麥的糧食作物,充分利用青稞資源優勢,精深加工青稞產品,對促進青海經濟發展有重要意義。

青海高原羚蜂業有限公司和海北藏族自治州農科所、廣州食品發展總公司經多次反復研究試驗,通過科學手段和現代生產工藝,采用全青稞面粉制作的青稞面條,具有爽、軟、韌、滑、口感良好的特性,并突破了以往傳統的加工工藝,使之達到了用機械化大規模生產的水平。在生產青稞掛面的同時,還將開發青稞麥片、青稞方便面、青稞茶葉、青稞面包等系列青稞精深加工產品。
